Freddie had a wonderful start to his show career, winning three majors in two weekends in the US aged 6 months, becoming a Canadian Champion at 7 months, a Grand Champion at 8 months and No. 1 Basenji in Canada at 9 months, where he stayed right to the end of the year. Along the way he won three hound groups, 17 hound puppy groups, 2 BPIS, numerous group placements, two Bred by Exhibitor Groups and multiple BOBs. He was BOS/Best Puppy and Best Canadian Bred at the Basenji Club of Canada regional specialty show, and SD/Best Canadian Bred at the National Specialty.

Freddie stepped onto the lure coursing field for the first time in October 2016 and showed huge talent, winning his JC title in his first two runs. The following year he made a qualifying run at the Ontario Lure Coursing Association trial in June and was entered for his very first trial in September. This was the ASFA trial at the Basenji Club of America National, and he won BOB from a huge entry. He and daughter Star also won the ASFA Breeder Stake. Freddie followed this by winning a large open stake at the AKC trial the same afternoon. Three weeks later, back in Ontario, he entered his first OLCA trial, was BOB both days and ended the weekend winning BIF, the first time this had been awarded to a Basenji.
